7-Day Interview Prep: 30-Minute Daily Plan with AI Mock Interviews

#Career#Job seekers#Mock interview#AI interview coach

Hello everyone, I’m your old friend Leo. With 20 years of experience in the recruitment industry, today I want to talk about how to prepare for an interview. When you’re looking for your next job, receiving an interview invitation, and as the interview approaches, you may feel nervous and overwhelmed. Based on my years of experience, most people fail interviews not because of a lack of ability, but because of insufficient preparation and poor performance under pressure.

I’ve summarized a 7-day interview prep checklist based on my experience, which I hope can help you stand out in interviews. The core principle of this 7-day plan is a Practice + Feedback loop: practice → AI feedback → optimize → practice again. It gradually covers all key areas: self-introduction, behavioral questions, professional questions, stress interviews, and communication skills.

DayFocusAI Tool Application MethodGoal
Day 1Self-introduction practiceInput resume into AI to generate self-intro questions and prepare answersFirst impression matters

Day1: Self-Introduction Preparation

Open the target job description (JD) and your resume, then use an AI mock interview tool to input both. The AI will generate self-introduction questions. I’ll show you two methods.

Using General AI Tools

For example, with ChatGPT, you can input your resume and target job description and get a text-based answer. However, this is a bit cumbersome. I recommend using a professional AI mock interview tool instead.

**Prompt Example**
You are a senior recruitment expert. Based on my resume and the target job description, please generate a self-introduction interview question.

Here is my resume:
...(you can paste your resume)

Here is the target job description:
...(you can paste the JD)

**ChatGPT-generated self-introduction question**
Hello, we’d like to learn about your background and skills. Please introduce yourself in 5–6 sentences.
Focus on your education and professional skills, especially related to marketing.
You can mention projects you’ve worked on or achievements you’ve made.
It’s also helpful to talk about tools or methods you’re proficient in, such as digital marketing or brand promotion.
Finally, briefly explain why you want to join our company and what value you can bring.

Now you should prepare how to answer this self-introduction. The response should be logical and structured, but not too lengthy. Keep it under 1 minute, focusing on the key points:

  • Opening (10s): One sentence positioning who you are (years, field, specialty).
  • Core skills (15–20s): 3 job-relevant strengths/skills (preferably backed by achievements).
  • Key achievement (10s): Highlight 1 quantified achievement (Result from STAR).
  • Motivation(10s): Show you understand the role’s core needs and how you fit.
  • Closing(5s): Express interest in collaboration.

Who I am (identity + expertise) → What I’ve done (3 skills + quantified achievement) → What I bring (value match) → Why I want this (motivation) → Closing expectation. Example: I have 5 years of ToB solution sales experience, covering manufacturing and retail enterprise clients. Last year I focused on expanding the North American market. By addressing “cost reduction + shorter delivery cycles,” I partnered with product teams for MVP validation, securing an $8.2M annual contract in 3 months, a 32% YoY increase. I built a North America lead co-creation mechanism with partners, generating 30+ quality leads monthly, adding $2.6M quarterly revenue, with a 48% repeat purchase rate. I understand your company is in an expansion phase needing structured lead operations and solution sales. My past experience with solution-driven sales and partner co-creation can be replicated in new markets. I look forward to learning about your strategies in key industries.

Using AI Mock Interview Tools

You can also use established AI mock interview tools to simplify the process. I recommend OfferEasy AI Mock Interview, widely used by job seekers.

Day2: Preparing Common Interview Questions

Day 2 is crucial, often determining interview success. The purpose of preparing common questions is to help you get familiar with question patterns and frameworks, organize your experiences and highlights, and avoid going blank or off-track under pressure. Preparing answers in advance improves logical structure and fluency, showcasing professional competence and job fit. It also helps identify knowledge gaps for timely improvement, boosting confidence and composure.

Using General AI Tools

**Prompt Example**
You are a senior recruitment expert. Based on my resume and target job description, generate potential professional interview questions.

Here is my resume:
...(paste resume)

Here is the target job description:
...(paste JD)

**ChatGPT-generated behavioral questions**
1. Tell me about a marketing campaign you designed or executed. What was the biggest challenge and how did you solve it?
2. Describe a time you optimized marketing strategy through data analysis. What actions did you take and what was the result?
3. Give an example of how you handled conflict within a team to ensure project success.
4. Share an experience where you successfully convinced a superior or client to adopt your proposal. What techniques did you use?
5. Describe a time you achieved marketing goals with limited budget or resources. How did you make trade-offs?
6. Tell me about a case where you boosted brand exposure or conversions via social media or digital marketing. What methods and results?
7. Share an experience when you completed a marketing project under tight deadlines. How did you manage priorities?
8. Describe when you identified a market opportunity or unmet customer need and proposed a solution.
9. Tell me about a failure in a marketing campaign. How did you adjust and what did you learn?
10. Share an experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on a marketing project. How did you coordinate and ensure success?

Using AI Mock Interview Tools

After creating a new interview, the AI interviewer automatically generates real-time questions based on your resume and target job. You then practice answering in voice. Example: For a MySQL Database Engineer role, the AI generated all questions based on the resume and JD. offereasy ai mock interview

Day3: Self-Practice

On Day 3, the key task is to practice answering the questions prepared from Days 1–2. The goal is to turn your knowledge and experience into smooth, logical, and natural verbal expression, so you appear confident and composed. Let’s take a marketing applicant as an example.

1. Use STAR Method to Structure Answers Behavioral questions usually require real experiences. Use STAR:

  • Situation: Context/background.
  • Task: Your responsibility.
  • Action: What you did.
  • Result: Outcome, preferably quantified.

For example, when asked “Tell me about a successful marketing campaign you designed,” follow STAR: project goal, your role, strategies and execution, and outcome. Maybe you led a cross-channel campaign combining online + offline promotion, resulting in 30% revenue growth.

2. Use AI Tools for Practice AI mock interview platforms (e.g., OfferEasy.ai, VMock, Pramp) can simulate interviews, give real-time voice practice, and provide feedback (logic, tone, pacing). This helps identify gaps in reasoning or unclear explanations.

Day4: Practicing Follow-Ups with AI or Partners

1. Using AI for Follow-Ups Many AI platforms now support automatic follow-up questions (OfferEasy.ai does this by default). They generate tailored follow-ups based on your answers, simulating real interviews.

Example: If you say, “I increased conversion rates through social media,” the AI may ask, “How exactly did you measure conversion rate improvement?” With ChatGPT or Gemini, you can also role-play an interviewer and request at least 3 follow-ups per answer.

Advantages of AI

  • Practice anytime, anywhere.
  • Diverse follow-ups expose blind spots.
  • Automatic feedback improves clarity and logic. offereasy ai mock interview

2. Using a Partner for Follow-Ups You can also ask a friend/classmate/family to play interviewer. Give them common questions (e.g., “Tell me about a marketing project you led”). After your answer, they should freely follow up (e.g., “What was the biggest challenge?” “How would you allocate budget differently as a leader?”). This creates a realistic dynamic, though it requires more effort.

3. Combining AI + Partner Practice

  • Use AI first to cover more questions and spot knowledge gaps.
  • Then practice with a partner to improve delivery, confidence, and presence.
  • Together, this improves both breadth and depth of preparation.

Day5: Generating Evaluation Reports

Based on your mock interviews, generate an evaluation report with scores, strengths, and weaknesses. Use this to refine answers, or even research and add knowledge. Reports provide objective, structured feedback on expression, knowledge, logic, and adaptability. This is far better than vague “I think I did okay.”

One job seeker I worked with got a report after his first mock interview. It showed strong logic in technical answers but weak responses to behavioral questions (e.g., “Tell me about team conflict”), which lacked specific examples. After preparing STAR stories, he later impressed real interviewers with strong communication and problem-solving, eventually landing his dream job.

Day6: Multiple Mock Interviews

Repeat AI mock interviews multiple times. Frequent practice helps you get familiar with all types of questions, refine answers, and reduce nerves. After 8–10+ sessions, you’ll answer with fluency, clarity, and confidence—like second nature, almost like muscle memory.

Jack, a product manager, struggled in his first AI mock interview. His answers lacked structure and specifics. The report flagged poor organization, vague examples, and weak impact. He rebuilt his answers with STAR, using concrete examples (e.g., subscription data mismanagement → corrective actions → measurable improvements). After multiple rounds, he became clear and confident. In his real interview, he performed excellently and soon got invited to the next round. Jack told me, “I’ll keep doing mock interviews before every stage!”

Day7: Relax

On the 7th day, I suggest relaxing. Take a break from intense prep. Don’t force yourself to rehearse; instead, go for a walk, exercise, listen to music, or do anything that relaxes you. Relaxation eases tension and also allows your brain to consolidate the past week’s preparation, so your thoughts are clearer and confidence comes naturally.

Remember: Interviews test not only your skills and knowledge but also your state of mind and presence. Enter with calm, confidence, and positivity—you’ll naturally perform your best.

No matter the outcome, you’ve already grown and gained from this preparation journey. As Nelson Mandela once said: “I never lose. I either win or learn.”
